Don’t Forget the Teens This Holiday

When people think about holiday giving, we often picture toys for small children or warm blankets for seniors—but one group that’s frequently overlooked is teenagers. At Seymour Helping Hands, we see firsthand how teens are often the “forgotten group” during the holiday season. While younger children receive plenty of gifts through toy drives, many older kids and teens go without, even though they face their own unique challenges and needs.

For families struggling financially, buying age-appropriate gifts for teens can be difficult. Yet, these young people deserve to feel remembered and valued, too. Simple items like gift cards, new hoodies, headphones, journals, books, hygiene sets, or snacks and drinks they enjoy can make a big difference. Even small gestures remind them that their community cares.

This year, we encourage those looking to spread kindness to include teen-focused donations in their giving. When you’re picking up gifts for local drives or community programs, consider adding something special for a teen. Every thoughtful donation helps bring joy, comfort, and confidence to a young person who might otherwise feel left out.
