Seymour Helping Hands: Serving Our Community with Compassion

As Seymour Helping Hands enters its fifth year of serving Seymour and the surrounding communities, the organization would like to take a moment to thank the many supporters, volunteers, donors, and partners who have helped make this mission possible. The generosity and compassion of the community have allowed Seymour Helping Hands to grow into a vital resource for individuals and families in need.

At the heart of Seymour Helping Hands is the Community Food Pantry, which works to combat hunger by providing food assistance to local families and individuals. Through donations and community partnerships, the pantry helps ensure that no one in our community has to face food insecurity alone.

The organization also operates a Parent Pantry, designed to support parents and grandparents who are caring for young children. This program provides essential items such as diapers, wipes, and other baby-related supplies—items that are necessary but can be costly. By helping provide these essentials, Seymour Helping Hands helps ensure that children in our community have what they need to stay healthy and comfortable.

Safety and preparedness are also an important focus. Through the Senior Safety Box Program, Seymour Helping Hands provides free key lock boxes that can be installed outside homes. These boxes allow first responders to quickly access a home during an emergency without damaging doors or windows, offering peace of mind for seniors and their families.

In partnership with the American Red Cross, Seymour Helping Hands also helps provide free smoke detectors to households that need them. Working smoke alarms are one of the most effective ways to protect families from house fires, and this program helps ensure more homes in our community are equipped with this critical safety device.

Education and opportunity are also part of the organization’s mission. Seymour Helping Hands works with Region 9 Education Service Center to help provide information and guidance for individuals seeking to earn their GED, opening doors to better employment and educational opportunities.

The work of Seymour Helping Hands is strengthened through partnerships with organizations such as Catholic Charities, Christian Action Services, Base Camp Lindsey, and Wichita Falls Pay It Forward. Together, these partnerships help extend support not only within Seymour but across nearby communities, assisting individuals experiencing homelessness and others facing difficult circumstances.

Seymour Helping Hands also supports recovery and wellness by providing space at the community center for a weekly NA/AA meeting, offering individuals a safe and welcoming place to gather for encouragement and support.

As the organization celebrates five years of service, Seymour Helping Hands remains deeply grateful for the continued support of the community. With the help of volunteers, donors, and partner organizations, the mission remains the same—to strengthen families, provide hope, and ensure that help is available for those who need it most.

Thank you, Seymour, for helping us continue this important work.
